Dear All,

Just wanted to give you a wee update on the COVID-19 vaccination, so far as we can. There are still a lot of details that we don’t yet know.

The Practice’s role in the delivery of the vaccination is for PATIENTS OVER 80 YEARS OLD WHO CAN ATTEND THE SURGERY. Patients who are housebound will be vaccinated by the District Nurses and patients under 80 years old will be vaccinated by the HSCP, just like with the flu vaccine.

When we get stock in of vaccine, we plan to contact our patients over 80 years old, starting with the eldest and working backwards to offer appointments to have the vaccination. WE WILL CONTACT YOU TO MAKE THE ARRANGEMENT, PLEASE DON’T CONTACT US – OUR TELEPHONE LINES ARE INUNDATED WITH QUERIES JUST NOW, MEANING THAT PATIENTS CAN’T GET THROUGH WITH URGENT MEDICAL PROBLEMS. PLEASE CALL 0800 030 8013 IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE COVID VACCINE.

Our plan is to administer the number of vaccines we are delivered as quickly as possible, prioritising this activity ahead of routine chronic disease management appointments. We are sure you will all understand our desire to have as many of you protected as soon as possible as a matter or priority and thank you for your patience and consideration in this matter.

Please note, we do not know for sure which vaccine it will be, but we suspect it will be the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine.

Stay Safe, Stay Well.
